Jock: Greg Gnyp

I grew up in Windsor and have always loved this area for the people, the music, the sports and my family.  I graduated from the University of Windsor thinking that I was going to save the world as an environmentalist except that I was bitten by the radio bug in school.  I spent four years with the U of W college station, CJAM-FM, and thought how amazing would it be to do this all the time.  I finished school and tried the "real" world for a bit and then volunteered at the new alternative station 89X.  One night, one of the DJ's were sick and they were extremely desperate so I filled in an evening show.  15 years later, I finally left the booth.  That was one of the longest "fill-in" shifts ever!!  I love all things Detroit/Windsor.  I am proud to call this area home and I get angry when I hear people talk bad about it.  We have great people in this area and our music scene is second to none!! 

I have been at The River for just over a year and could not be happier.  I get to play some of the most amazing music on the radio and get to work side by side with someone who I can call a good friend.  I now get a chance to work with Phat Matt and some of the best people around.  We have become a strange little family who are all in this together.

When I am not working, I am either out on the Harley, trying new beers from around the world or catching up on some good books.  I have become a big fan of chilling out at home with the pets and just being lazy.  I love to cook but I hate to clean up afterwards, so I don't cook as much as I should.  Thank goodness for take-outs and leftovers. 

I am a huge sports fanatic.  I love watching The Tigers on a hot and humid afternoon.  It is 3 hours of heaven.  Plus, how can you not be addicted to Red Wing hockey.  Year after year, it is exciting times at the Joe and of course, The Pistons continue to impress with their style and winning ways.  The only thing I miss around here is soccer.  I have become an insane soccer fan and will get up at 3 am on a Saturday or Sunday morning just to catch a match.  Or sometimes, I just don't go to bed.
