Jock: Mark Lander

With a life long passion for music and the joy it can bring to so many people, it’s no surprise that Mark's love for radio has flourished for almost 30 years. Mark's been on a quest to bring music to the masses ever since his first on-air encounter at his hometown radio station in Sarnia, Ontario as a teenager in 1979.


"To me, being a DJ at The River is all about being able to affect people in an extremely positive way. Whether it’s through the songs that I play, or meeting people at a River event. Music can be a great conduit to bring out emotion. My goal is to bring out the good, positive and happy emotions in those who hear me play the music that I love so much..."


Shortly thereafter in 1985, Mark moved to Florida. While there, his musical direction became as diverse as the many stations he was a part of. From Jazz to Country and everthing in between, music took him to some unbelieveable radio stations in Destin, Melbourne and Orlando.

In 2000 Mark moved back to the Motor City, and couldn't be happier. Detroit is a city that radiates a good vibe, the same vibe Mark strives to perpetuate everyday at The River. With great people like Phat Matt, Gnyp and Jenny, Mark shares their passion for music. But most of all, Mark just loves playing River music that inspires.
