VARIOUS ARTISTS. MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE "I'M NOT THERE." (COLUMBIA)

Just as nearly every man looks more sophisticated in a tuxedo, so most every musician sounds smarter, cooler and more accomplished singing a Dylan song.

Fresh and elaborate proof arrives in this 34-song tribute to the great bard, concocted for Todd Haynes' forthcoming movie about his slippery soul, "I'm Not There."

It's stirring from first cut to last.
